Wage Peace
by Judyth Hill
|
|
Wage peace with your breath.
Breathe in firemen and rubble,
breathe out whole buildings
and flocks of redwinged blackbirds.
Breathe in terrorists and breathe out sleeping children
and freshly mowed fields.
Breathe in confusion and breathe out maple trees.
Breathe in the fallen
and breathe out lifelong friendships intact.
Wage peace with your listening;
Hear sirens, pray loud.
Remember your tools;
flower seeds, clothespins, clean rivers.
Make soup.
Play music, learn the word for Thank You in three languages.
Learn to knit, and make a hat.
Think of chaos as dancing raspberries,
imagine grief as the outbreath of beauty
or the gesture of fish.
Swim for the other side.
Wage peace.
Never has the world seemed so fresh and precious.
Have a cup of tea and rejoice.
Act as if armistice has already arrived.
Celebrate today.

COMING WINTER 2007

MOTHER'S DAY
& ONESIES!
Sunday, May 13th, 11:00
CENTRAL SQUARE, KEENE
There are few things that convey the tenderness and love we have for our children than their old onsies. They can help us remember that all soldiers were once some mother's baby, and that all mothers the world over love their children as we do..
On Mothers Day, May 13th, 2007, we will be wrapping Central Square with clothes lines of onesies. We will be calling for an end to war and to a new commitment to find peaceful ways to resolve conflict.
Please join us. We will begin assembling the clothing lines at 11:00. We will have a ceremony from 12 noon - 1:00 and at 1:00 we will join mothers the world over for 5 minutes of silence and prayers for peace.
We need onsies. Old, precious ones with yogurt stains. New ones that you buy especially for this event and will let us give to needy families, or ones you borrow from a friend.
